Hartedief was founded in 2005 when Haidee Nel, acclaimed Cape Town artist, started supplying galleries with 'heart' art objects. The inspiration came from the making of a costume for the performance 'Optical Illusion' at the National Gallery, Cape Town.
These works are the perfect gift. But do not be fooled - these hearts are not mere décor pieces - they are exceptional small sculptures. As they are individually made, their design varies in color and details. Some have music.
HAIDEE NEL / Hartedief
A beautiful small sculpture by Haidee Nel. The heart has long been used as a symbol to refer to the spiritual, emotional and moral and in the past also the intellectual core of a human being as the heart was once widely believed to be the seat of the human mind. The word ‘heart’ continues to be used poetically to refer to the soul and stylized depictions of hearts are extremely prevalent symbols representing love.’Hartedief, the word, translates into an endearing term for someone or something precious. All the art objects created by Hartedief conjures up that feeling … of something precious!
